Verification & Trust Policy
1. Purpose and Scope
This Verification & Trust Policy explains how FindMyShark currently verifies user identity to enhance trust, reduce fraud, and maintain platform integrity. Verification confirms identity only. It does not validate financial capacity, business legitimacy, ownership, regulatory compliance, investment suitability, or opportunity viability, and it is not endorsement or due diligence.
2. Current Identity Verification Process
At launch, identity-related checks on FindMyShark are limited to the following:
- Email confirmation when you create an account.
- Phone confirmation by one-time code sent via our SMS provider, Twilio, where phone verification is enabled.
- An optional identity-verified status that may be applied by FindMyShark staff after a manual review. Users do not currently submit government-issued ID documents or selfies through the platform, and we do not perform biometric matching.
3. Meaning of a Verified Badge
A verified badge is shown only when FindMyShark has marked the account as identity-verified through the process described above. It confirms identity checks only. It does not constitute endorsement, a guarantee, a background check, credit verification, business validation, or financial verification. Users never receive a verified badge without completing the defined process.
4. Data Handling
Email and account data are stored as described in our Privacy Policy. Phone numbers used for OTP verification are processed by Twilio as a service provider. We do not currently collect, encrypt, or store government ID images or biometric data. If document-based verification is introduced later, this policy and the Privacy Policy will be updated before that process is enabled.
5. Platform Role
The Platform acts solely as a connection platform and does not assume responsibility for agreements, negotiations, or transactions between users.
6. Suspension and Termination
Accounts found to provide false information, impersonation, or fraudulent activity may be suspended or permanently terminated.
7. Contact
